Time’s up for Windows 7

On January 14th 2020 (yes, today!), Microsoft will pull the plug on Windows 7, terminating any support for the operating system.

But what does this mean?

Microsoft will no longer deliver updates or critical security protections to any users still using Windows 7. This means that continued use of Windows 7 after the January 2020 deadline will leave your computers susceptible to viruses, malware and ransomware attacks.

Despite all of this, as many as 43% of businesses are still operating a Windows 7 system and are generally unprepared for the end.

So, what should you do?

It is imperative that you migrate to Windows 10 as soon as possible to ensure business continuity and avoid hefty fines (if you’re still operating a Windows 7 system that is).

Unlike migrations from XP, migrations from Windows 7 are more complex. Put simply, it is likely that software providers will not support the older operating systems, and users will be unable to install new software at all due to the outdated infrastructure.
